However, most of you may wonder if you’re safe from standing next to a microwave oven. One of the myths about microwave is their radiation could potentially cause cancer. Is it true?

Not really. There are 2 types of radiation that move through space, non-ionizing radiation and ionizing radiation. Ionizing radiation are usually found in X-rays and gamma-rays that can damage cells and DNA.
In contrast, microwaves are a type of non-ionizing radiation, therefore they are not known to damage DNA inside cells, says the American Cancer Society.
